Premier League
Liverpool 3-0 West Ham United

United's barren run at Anfield continues for at least another year after a predictable defeat on Merseyside.

It's now 47 years since West Ham last won at Liverpool and there were few signs tonight that that particular sequence was about to be broken.

Former Hammer Yossi Benayoun opened the scoring for the home team on 19 minutes when he converted Steven Gerrard's deep cross ; to his credit, the Israeli refused to celebrate in front of the away fans.

The oft-criticised David Ngog, standing in for Fernando Torres doubled Liverpool's advantage just ahead of the half hour mark when he got on the end of Maxi's through-ball to give the home side a commanding half time lead.

Wes Ham came out of the blocks a far better side than the shambles witnessed in the opening 45 minutes but failed to reduce Liverpool's two-goal advantage before the home side added a third through Sotirios Kyrgiakos, whose 59th minute effort clipped the post before finding the net having rebounded off the unfortunate Rob Green's foot.

All in all it was a dreadful night for the Hammers who were possibly lulled into a false sense of security by the three-point advantage they still hold over Hull City - although they could be set to change this weekend.
