Having joined the club as a 14-year-old back in 2004 Spence's progress to the first team has been a long, slow but ultimately successful one.

A full-back who can also operate in the centre of defence, Spence finally made his first team debut at the back end of the 2011/12 Premier League season having previously enjoyed spells on loan at Orient, Scunthorpe and Bristol City.
