Scott Parker

Position: Midfielder

Born: 13th Oct 1980, Lambeth

Signed: 1st Jul 2007 (£7000000)

Previous Club: Newcastle

KUMB Awards: Player of the Year 2009/10, 2008/09; Best Signing 2007/08; Goal of the Season 2009/10, (third place) 2007/08.

Scott Parker was reunited with former boss Alan Curbishley in July 2007, after West Ham United paid Newcastle United £7m to make him Curbishley's first signing of the summer transfer window.

The former Charlton youth player had previously spent time with Chelsea, who paid the Addicks £10m for his services before Newcastle later paid £6.5m to take him to Tyneside.

A tough, non-nonsense player, Parker is expected to become a big success at The Boleyn Ground.
1-3 v Bolton Wanderers (h) 21st August 2010
by Gordon Thrower
A bit quieter than usual though he played a vital role in getting the second penalty. (6)
0-3 v Aston Villa (a) 14th August 2010
by Staff Writer
Whether or not the protracted transfer speculation has had an effect is perhaps something for debate, but he was way below par here. (4)

1-1 v Manchester City (h) 9th May 2010
by Gordon Thrower
I saw him misplace a pass. No really I did. Probably one of the few who didn't treat the afternoon as a gentle work-out. (8)
2-3 v Fulham (a) 3rd May 2010
by Gordon Thrower
Not as dominant as of late. Good part in the second goal. (6)
3-2 v Wigan Athletic (h) 24th April 2010
by Gordon Thrower
You've read all the papers by now. Yes he was that good – the goal just shades the MOTM award from me – but it was close. (9)
2-2 v Everton (a) 1st April 2010
by Staff Writer
Different week, same report. Strong, committed and determined as always. His yellow card results in a two week suspension - at a critical time. (8)
1-3 v Wolverhampton Wanderers (h) 23rd March 2010
by Rob Chapman
Ran with purpose all night. Looked like he was in desperate search of some teammates who might be up for the ride as well. (7)
1-2 v Bolton Wanderers (h) 6th March 2010
by Gordon Thrower
Some good runs from deep but failed to shoot on occasions when he ought to have done – and shot once or twice when he shouldn’t have. (6)
3-0 v Hull City (h) 21st February 2010
by Daniel Prescott
Bustling as always, quiet but effective. Gave the usual 100 per cent effort. (8)
3-0 v Hull City (h) 21st February 2010
by Gordon Thrower
Yet another good performance from somebody who is captain in all but name. One worry was the ludicrous yellow card issued by the inconsistent Atkinson, which leaves Parker one card short of a two-match ban just ahead of a period when we are likely to need him most. (8)
2-0 v Birmingham City (h) 10th February 2010
by Gordon Thrower
Bossed the midfield nicely and his run that led to the first goal was superb. MOTM for me. (8)
1-2 v Burnley (a) 6th February 2010
by Rob Chapman
Always looked our most likely player to create something out of nothing in the absence of Diamanti and seems to create opportunities through sheer bloody mindedness at times. Quality throughout. (8)
0-0 v Blackburn Rovers (h) 30th January 2010
by Gordon Thrower
(Replaced Bahrami, 70 mins) Another one it was good to see again. Showed why we need him fit and well in the middle. (6)
1-1 v Chelsea (h) 20th December 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Outstanding again. The clearance off the line and subsequent block on the edge of the box summed his game up and, if Upson was wearing the armband, Parker was every bit as influential as a leader. (9)
0-4 v Manchester United (h) 5th December 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Failed to take the midfield by the scruff of the neck in the way w know he can. (5)
5-3 v Burnley (h) 28th November 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Best player on the pitch by a country mile. Personally I see him as more of a captain than Upson. (8)
2-1 v Aston Villa (h) 4th November 2009
by Gordon Thrower
A fine game. Did the box-to-box thing all night and his run into the box set up Hines for the winner. (8)
2-2 v Arsenal (h) 25th October 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Dreadfully unlucky to encounter a referee as poor as Foy. No penalty and two yellow cards for nothing. (7)
2-2 v Fulham (h) 4th October 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Average first half. Poor second. (5)
1-3 v Manchester City (a) 28th September 2009
by Hammer John
Decent at breaking up the play but seems to have forgotten how to pass this season. (5)
1-3 v Bolton Wanderers (a) 22nd September 2009
by Hammer John
Ok, but played well within himself. (6)
2-3 v Liverpool (h) 19th September 2009
by Gordon Thrower
One header apart he kept the (admittedly overrated) Gerrard pretty quiet. (If you don’t count the whining noise aimed at the referee for 90 minutes). (7)
0-1 v Wigan Athletic (a) 12th September 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Held the middle well and was unlucky to see his half-volley turned over the bar by the ‘keeper. (7)
1-2 v Tottenham Hotspur (h) 23rd August 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Outstanding. Cropped up on just about every part of the pitch. (9)
2-0 v Wolverhampton Wanderers (a) 15th August 2009
by Andy Stansfield
Good calming influence in the middle. (7)
2-0 v Wolverhampton Wanderers (a) 15th August 2009

Good calming influence in the middle. (7)
2-0 v Beijing Guoan (n) 31st July 2009
by Staff Writer
A decent run out for Parker who needs games under his belt more than most. (6)
1-1 v Blackburn Rovers (a) 21st March 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Another strong run out – though like Noble he looked knackered at the end. (7)
0-0 v West Bromwich Albion (h) 16th March 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Ok at winning the ball but gave it away far too much. (6)
0-0 v West Bromwich Albion (h) 16th March 2009
by John Simkin
Worst game for some time. Made a few efforts to get forward but nothing came of his advances upfield. He was also slow to get back and showed signs that he is suffering the consequences of a hard season. (5)
1-0 v Manchester City (h) 21st February 2009
by Gordon Thrower
My next door neighbour in the ground said that he “ran his backside into the ground” Damned if I can put it any better than that – MOTM. (8)
1-2 v Bolton Wanderers (a) 21st February 2009
by John Simkin
Probably his best game for the club. A captain who leads from the front, he totally controlled the midfield. We all know what a great defensive player Parker is but against Bolton he also passed the ball well. (9)
1-1 v Middlesbrough (h) 14th February 2009
by John Simkin
A quiet afternoon for a player who usually dominates midfield. (5)
1-1 v Middlesbrough (h) 14th February 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Too many misplaced passes and that “drilling for oil” move he has just played him into trouble. (5)
0-1 v Manchester United (h) 8th February 2009
by John Simkin
Exemplary game except for the failed tackle against Giggs that led to the goal. (8)
0-1 v Manchester United (h) 8th February 2009
by Gordon Thrower
Another strong performance – the opposition knew they’d been in a game. (8)
0-0 v Arsenal (a) 31st January 2009
by Gordon Thrower
A fine performance in the middle. Simply worked himself into the ground to break things up time after time after time. Glad to see the energy levels have improved from earlier in the season when he was complaining of being knackered halfway through the second half. (8)
0-0 v Arsenal (a) 31st January 2009
by John Simkin
Another inspiring performance from the man who controls everything in the centre of midfield. (8)
2-0 v Hull City (h) 28th January 2009
by John Simkin
At the centre of everything that went on in midfield. He is the player we must not lose in the transfer window. (8)
2-0 v Hartlepool United (a) 24th January 2009
by John Simkin
Completely controlled the mid-field and was the most important player on the pitch, and provided an excellent captain’s performance. (8)
3-1 v Fulham (h) 18th January 2009
by John Simkin
The quality of the Fulham midfield meant that Parker did not have to be at his very best today. However, it was still a highly competent performance. (7)
2-2 v Newcastle United (a) 10th January 2009
by Gordon Thrower
A lot of running and played a big part in Bellamy’s goal. (8)
2-1 v Stoke City (h) 28th December 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Gave the ball away a bit too much for my liking before his replacement by Mullins late on. (5)
0-0 v Portsmouth (h) 15th November 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Tried to run the midfield but the final ball was lacking – at least he was replaced on time this week. (6)
1-3 v Everton (h) 8th November 2008
by Gordon Thrower
A good return that might have been marked better had he not tired alarmingly quickly in the second half. MOTM for the influence he showed for most of the game. (7)
1-3 v Bolton Wanderers (h) 5th October 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Did that circular thing like he’s drilling for oil too much. (5)
2-1 v Fulham (a) 28th September 2008
by Gordon Thrower
A lot of hard work and decent tackles and clearly enjoys the increased responsibility the new system gives him. (7)
3-1 v Newcastle United (h) 20th September 2008
by Alex Shilling
Better performance than we've seen from him in recent games, controlled central midfield. (6)
3-1 v Newcastle United (h) 20th September 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Best game in ages for the midfielder. Hopefully the knock that saw him withdrawn is nothing serious. (8)
4-1 v Blackburn Rovers (h) 30th August 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Decent run out for the midfielder who had more than a passing involvemet in the fourth goal. (7)
0-3 v Manchester City (a) 24th August 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Kept bringing the ball out of defence. Kept losing it. (4)
0-3 v Manchester City (a) 24th August 2008
by Alex Shilling
Failed to stamp his authority on the game. (5)
2-1 v Wigan Athletic (h) 16th August 2008
by Nick Bull
Gave the ball away a bit too often for my liking. (5)
2-1 v Wigan Athletic (h) 16th August 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Gave the ball away a bit too often for my liking. (5)
2-1 v Wigan Athletic (h) 16th August 2008
by Alex Shilling
Did well throughout, competed well. If he can keep this up, we will have one of the best young English central midfielders in the league. (7)
2-3 v MLS AllStars (n) 25th July 2008
by Graeme Howlett
Mugged completely for the second goal and rarely troubled the AllStars. (5)
2-2 v Aston Villa (h) 10th May 2008
by Gordon Thrower
At full-time he went down on his knees, possibly looking for the one blade of grass he hadn’t covered during the day. (8)
1-4 v Manchester United (a) 3rd May 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Got his foot in well though he fell foul of Riley’s law – free-kicks for clean tackles being the usual exchange rate. (6)
1-4 v Manchester United (a) 3rd May 2008
by Alex Shilling
Did his best, but he produces his best form with Noble in the centre. Simply outrun by Carrick today. (6)
2-2 v Newcastle United (h) 26th April 2008
by Alex Shilling
Did well in the engine room against his former club. Useful through balls, excellent distribution. (7)
2-2 v Newcastle United (h) 26th April 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Was described pre-match by one of my Geordie pals as “a drill” because of his habit of going around in circles on the spot. Did that a lot less today and was all the better for it. (7)
2-1 v Derby County (h) 19th April 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Seems to have reduced his habit of turning back into trouble when there’s an easy ball on – though the once or twice that he did it today was still once or twice too many for my liking. (6)
0-1 v Portsmouth (h) 8th April 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Won a few tackles but constantly turned into trouble when there was an easy lay-off on. (5)
1-2 v Sunderland (a) 29th March 2008
by Gordon Thrower
A lot of hard work, often undone by a tendency to unnecessarily turn back into trouble. (6)
1-1 v Everton (a) 22nd March 2008
by Graeme Howlett
A typical Parker performance full of commitment and gusto. (7)
2-1 v Blackburn Rovers (h) 17th March 2008
by Alex Shilling
Excellent passing in midfield, held it together well. We may well have gone into the break two or more goals down if it wasn't for his interceptions in midfield. Posed a dangerous attacking threat too. (8)
2-1 v Blackburn Rovers (h) 17th March 2008
by Gordon Thrower
Another decent run out, though he looked knackered by the end. (7)
0-4 v Tottenham (a) 10th March 2008
by Gordon Thrower
The pick of the side today, a return that gives us a bit of hope for the next few games. (7)
2-1 v Manchester United (h) 29th December 2007
by Gordon Thrower
Seemed to be doing ok until his untimely departure due to injury. (7)
2-1 v Manchester United (h) 29th December 2007
by Jacob Steinberg
Similar to Mullins although he was encouraged to drive more. He picked up an unfortunate injury however when tackling Ronaldo. (7)
1-1 v Reading (h) 26th December 2007
by Jacob Steinberg
Following on from his goal on Saturday, this was another pleasingly all action performance which probably should have brought him another goal. (8)
0-2 v Everton (h) 15th December 2007
by Jacob Steinberg
He was willing to get stuck in for the cause and repeatedly drove the team forward as the game went on. However his distribution let him down again. (7)
0-2 v Everton (h) 15th December 2007
by Gordon Thrower
Ran himself into the ground and didn’t deserve the result. MOTM. (8)
0-1 v Chelsea (a) 1st December 2007
by Gordon Thrower
Solid in the tackle, he put in an excellently gritty performance. (8)
1-1 v Tottenham (h) 24th November 2007
by Gordon Thrower
(replaced Noble, 63) Some good touches and a decent effort forced a save out of Robinson (6)
0-1 v Arsenal (h) 28th September 2007
by Josh Tappin
Good quality passing until the injury. (7)
