West Ham stay rooted to the bottom of the Premiership tonight after yet another defensive horror show at the Valley.
Despite taking an early lead thanks to Edouard Cisse the Hammers capitulated - yet again - conceding four to a mediocre Charlton side who won't come up against many Premiership defences as benevolent as West Ham.The only plus on yet another terribly disappointing night came with the news that fellow strugglers Bolton also lost at Newcastle.
But tonight's defeat meant that the Hammers have now gone FOURTEEN Premiership games without a win - just two short of the club's record of sixteen league games without victory.
In addition to the demoralising defeat there were yet more questionable decisions made by Glenn Roeder, who decided to leave Ian Pearce - arguably our most consistent defender - on the bench throughout the game, whilst bringing on two full backs instead of Don Hutchison when chasing the game.
The almost universal calls for Roeder's removal will, of course, fall on deaf ears once again as the board continue to bury their heads in the sand as the club freefall into the first division.
But with little hope of survival judging by recent displays that is exactly where West Ham are heading right now.
