West Ham's opening game of the 2004/05 Coca Cola Championship season ended in a stalemate at the Walkers Stadium this afternoon.

A game billed as one of the most exciting fixtures of the forthcoming season ended up a bit of a damp squib, with neither side managing to break the deadlock on a scorching afternoon in the Midlands.

And both teams ended up with just 10 men on the pitch following a first half dismissal for Dion Dublin, making his Leicester debut, and a late red card for Hammers left back Rufus Brevett for a second bookable offence.

West Ham enjoyed the man advantage for almost an hour before Brevett joined Dublin for an early bath, but failed to make the most of the extra man.

We'll have a full match report for you soon.

West Ham United: Bywater, Repka, Brevett, Dailly, Melville, Reo-Coker, Mullins, Etherington, Rebrov (McAnuff), Sheringham (Cohen), Harewood (Zamora).

Subs not used: Walker, Ferdinand.
