Hammers linked with Boro youngster

Speculation tonight suggests that Alan Pardew is attempting to sign Middlesbrough's Andrew Davies on loan.

20-year-old Davies - who has represented England at under-21 level - recently broke through to the 'Boro first team, but his progression was halted by a broken leg sustained during a reserve outing a year ago.

QPR are also attempting to sign Davies, but the 6'2" centre-half turned down a move to Loftus Road only last week.

With Pardew thought to have made an approach to Middlesbrough earlier today it is likely to be a straight battle between the two London clubs for his signature.

More on this as it happens.
