Millwall boss Dennis Wise comments on today's stalemate at the Boleyn

Dennis Wise - Millwall FC

I was pleased with them today. Teddy does make a difference to their team. He’s very sharp and he thinks very hard about the game and he’ll always cause you problems.

A dent in their play-off hopes? It’d be nice if we have! However, we’ve got to play Preston and Sheffield United and we ain’t gonna lay down and die against them. If we can put in a performance as well as we did today I’m sure we can get something out of those two games as long as my older players can stay fit.

Was I tempted to play today? At one stage yes. But I’ve only trained for four days and played one reserve game. I’ve been out for nine weeks. It’s a long time out to be coming into a game like this. I was pleased with the players so I didn’t really need to put myself in.

Muscat’s done extremely well today. We’ve missed him. He’s a player with a lot of experience. Coming back today has helped us – he helps the younger players. We’ve also missed Paul Ifill – he’s been out a long time so it was nce to see him have half an hour or so. Unfortunately we lost Barry Hales today which doesn’t help. Barry’s done his back – we don’t exactly know what the problem is. He tried to carry on but I told him at half-time that I couldn’t have him around doing nothing. It was a great goal. A good ball from Muscat and a fantastic finish from Barry. It was nice to start like that and quieten the punters a little bit.

We were very strong defensively and we made it very difficult for them.We thought we should have pushed on ourselves but unfortunately when you’re on the back foot you have a tendency to drop off rather than to push on.

My future? I really do not know. I’ll have to sit and have a chat with the new Chairman and decide then. Would I like to stay? Of course I would.
