Media Sport Investment have this afternoon confirmed their interest in purchasing West Ham United.
A statement released by the group this afternoon read:
"Kia Joorabchian and his consortium confirm that they are considering making an offer for West Ham.
"However, matters are at a very early stage and there can be no certainty that a firm
offer will be forthcoming or the terms upon which any such offer would be made."
MSI - headed by 34-year-old Iranian business Joorabchian - were set up last year and almost immediately purchased Brazilian club Corinthians.
However a report in today's Dailly Express claims that the real driving force behind MSI is Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky - a former business associate of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Joorabchian claimed yesterday that his investment in West Ham were he to purchase the club would equate to some £200m, with almost half of that set aside to purchase new players.
Supporters are divided over news of the possible takeover; you can read the latest thoughts of the fans by visiting this thread on the KUMB forum.
