Midfielder Gavin Williams has completed a £300,000 switch to Championship outfit Ipswich.

The 25-year-old former Yeovil man ended weeks of speculation by signing for the Blues on a permanent basis this morning, having spent the last month there on loan.

Williams joined West Ham from Yeovil almost exactly a year ago for a fee of £250,000 but was deemed surplus to requirements by Alan Pardew upon promotion in May. His short stint at the Boleyn saw him make just nine starts, plus three appearances from the bench.

Williams, talking via itfc.co.uk this morning said:

"When I first arrived I made it clear that I liked it here [at Ipswich] and a permanent move would appeal.

"I'm delighted it has worked out like that."

* West Ham have also confirmed the departure of Luke Chadwick, who will sign a permanent contract with Stoke tomorrow for a fee of £100,000.
