Hammers boss Harry Redknapp was happy with the 2-0 win over Blackburn at the Boleyn last night, which took his side through to the fourth round of the Worthington Cup.

And he conceded that the Worthington Cup was still the clubs best chance of some silverwear this season.

"We won't win the championship, so we have to take this competition seriously because realistically the cup is our best chance," he said after the game.

And he was full of praise for Davor Suker, who scored the opening goal last night - his third for the club since his arrival in the summer.

"He's got a great international record and he is one of the best strikers in Europe," said Harry.

He defended his decision to once again play Suker with Di Canio and Kanoute, when he said: "I always felt we would score. With Suker, Kanoute and Di Canio, there were goals there."

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness was also pleased with his team, especially considering the side he put out was full of reserves.

"I have said all along that the priority is the Premiership. Several people have been carrying knocks and others needed a rest," he said.

"We fielded a weakened side because we have got several problems, but I was happy with the effort the team put in. We managed to stop them playing, but in the end they got to us."
