Jermain Defoe, West Ham's 18-year-old striker currently on loan at Bournemouth made it two out of two with a first half strike against Barry Fry's Peterborough this afternoon.

Jermain, who scored on his debut for Mel Machin's side last week is on a month's loan at Bournemouth, and has already turned many heads since his arrival.

Frank Lampard Snr has compared the little striker to Ian Wright. Lampard told KUMB: "I think that Jermain has got something. I spoke to Mel Machin [after last weeks game] and he said that he only had about five touches in the first half; he hit the bar, the keeper made a great save, someone dropped it on the line and then he scored!"

Meanwhile, it was a good day for other current and former Hammers, who had a chance to steal the spotlight due to a lack of Hammers fixtures today.

Tony Cottee's first game in charge at Barnet produced a very good point away at high-flying Rochdale - final score 0-0.

And Richard Garcia celebrated his decision to stay with Orient until the end of the season by helping his team mates to a 2-1 win over Mansfield at Brisbane Road.

In the Premier League Alan Curbishley's Charlton continued their good form with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Bradford. But Matt Holland's Ipswich were narrowly beaten 2-1 at St. James Park by Newcastle.
