The power of three

Mark Noble says he can't wait to play Arsenal as the Hammers seek a third successive victory.

United travel to the Emirates Stadium this weekend for their first visit to Arsenal's new home, and will be seeking to secure an unlikely double.

For just as West Ham were the last away team to win at Arsenal's old Highbury home, they will be attempting to become the first away team to win at the Gunners' new ground.

And local hero Noble - who was pivotal in United's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough last weekend - says he can't wait to get stuck into a team over which the Hammers have had the upper hand over since returning to the Premiership two years ago.

Talking to the club's website, Noble - who is 20 next month - said:

"It's a nice one for all of us; we're going there full of confidence on the back of two wins and hopefully we'll get a result.

"They had a tough game against Liverpool, which they lost 4-1. They're going to be a bit low but if we can go there and set our stall out early then hopefully we can get a point or three."

Two weeks ago the suggestion that West Ham could take anything from the Emirates would probably had rendered the speaker a laughing stock. However two wins in two games - and signs of some long-lost confidence re-emerging, coupled with Arsenal's less than fantastic form - has given Alan Curbishley's side a fighting chance.

With just seven league games left to play - and two of those against title-chasing Chelsea and Manchester United - the Hammers may well need at least a point from the game if they are to have any chance of retaining their Premiership berth next season.
