Coventry v West Ham Utd: half time report

Filed: Tuesday, 30th October 2007
By: Matthew O'Greel

West Ham are on level terms with Championship outfit Coventry City at the break in this evening's Carling Cup fourth round tie.

The Hammers have thus far failed to break through a stubborn City defence, although Luis Boa Morte was desperately unlucky to see the decision go against him when he was clearly hauled down on the edge of the Coventry penalty area after being set clear through on goal late on in the half.

Iain Dowie's side have perhaps had the edge in terms of possession, but have failed to turn that superiority into goals. Their only real chance of the half fell in the 22nd minute when a crisp drive across goal narrowly evaded Richard Wright's far post.

We'll have more for you at the final whistle.

West Ham United: Wright, Neill, McCartney, Ferdinand, Upson, Mullins, Noble, Bowyer, Etherington, Boa Morte, Cole.

Subs: Green, Spector, Paintsil, Gabbidon, Reid.

Booked: McCartney (16), Neill (34).

Coventry City: Marshall, McNamee, Turner, Hall, De Zeeuw, Tabb, Doyle, Osbourne, Gray, Best, Mifsud.

Subs: Simpson, Cairo, Ward, Thornton, Kyle.

Referee: Rob Styles
