Upson back?

Matthew Upson could make a surprise return to the team for this weekend's visit of Blackburn Rovers.

The England centre-half missed last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Tottenham after sustaining an injury during the game against Liverpool at Anfield four days prior.

But according to Alan Curbishley, he could be return to take his place alongside Anton Ferdinand in the centre of defence for a game in which the Hammers will be looking to stop their dreadful run of recent defeats.

"Matty Upson may be back," Cursbihley said in the pre-match press conference. "We'll find that out over the next couple of days."

Definitely out of contention is Julien Faubert who is still struggling with his ankle, whilst youngsters Freddie Sears, Jack Collison and James Tomkins are also unlikely to be involved.

"The timing's got to be right for that," added Curbishley. "I've not got a problem putting them in, but I think after three 4-0 defeats might not be the right time."
