Curbishley on injuries

Alan Curbishley has admitted that several of his squad are unlikely to play again this season.

Whilst James Collins (cruciate) and Calum Davenport (neck) are known long-term injuries the likes of Craig Bellamy, Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer are also unlikely to feature again this term, according to the Hammers boss.

"I'd like to think that a few of them would have been around before the end of this season. The injuries we've got are unprecedented. I'm not too sure at this moment where we're at," Curbishley said.

"Dyer is running and doing okay but his problem is that where they inserted the pin for the fracture, that's causing some irritation.

"So it's not the fracture itself, it's the pin; he's got to overcome that. It's not the injury that he's out with but the circumstance.

"People like Bellamy, Etherington and Bowyer have been missing for two months. Bow has had an operation and Matty is in the throes of attempting to start running again.

"So we're hoping, if he gets through that that we may have a chance of him being one of the players to declare himself fit as we leave the end of the season.

"Bellamy is doing all the rehab, when they start going out there and getting through that we can look forward to having them available in the summer.

"Danny Gabbidon is another one. Danny played against Everton in the Cup and I haven't seen him since. He's got a similar injury to Bellamy and Etherington.

"You do the strengthening work but the only time you're going to find out [if they're fit] is when they're back out there."
