Ljungberg in injury scare

Filed: Saturday, 26th April 2008
By: Staff Writer

Freddie Ljungberg has been taken to hospital after sustaining an injury against Newcastle at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon.

The 30-year-old midfielder was carried off just 21 minutes into the first half of today's 2-2 draw and rushed to hospital for x-rays.

Initial fears were that the Swedish international may have suffered broken ribs; we will bring you confirmation of the extent of the injury once it is known.

Mark Noble and Dean Ashton had given the Hammers a two goal cushion before goals from Martins and Geremi earned a point for the visitors in today's game.

''Let's hope Freddie is ok. I think we must be going for a record of the most injuries in 1 season! Crazy!

Can't believe we threw away a 2-0 advantage. We need to stop conceding at stupid times in the game! e.g just before half time and just before the end!''
