A second round of talks between West Ham and Dean Ashton have ended without a deal being struck.
However the club remain confident that a deal will be done soon, with CEO Scott Duxbury telling the club's website:"The talks so far have been very positive.
"We are meeting with Dean and his representatives in the early part of next week with the aim of concluding a new long-term contract."
The two parties met initally on May 16th. Meanwhile rumours that Ashton is set to leave for pastures new continue to surface - no doubt due to the current impasse.
