Paulo Wanchope left London early this morning in order to complete his transfer to Premiership new boys Manchester City.
Wanchope will have a medical this morning and sign a contract with his new employers this afternoon should all go to plan.City boss Joe Royle was obviously relieved this morning when he said: ""It should not have dragged on this long - and there is no such thing as a quiet deal these days."
Denis Roach, Wanchope's agent added: ""We've just a few final bits and pieces to finish off with West Ham, but the deal is as good as done."
The deal was almost scuppered at the last minute due to a late intervention from ambitious Bradford City, but Wanchope opted for the move to Manchester.
The fee is said to be £4.5m - a £1m profit for the Hammers on a player bought almost exactly a year ago from Derby County.
