West Ham United have been linked with a move for Siena full-back Juan Zuniga.

According to today's Daily Mail the Hammers have been keeping an eye on the 23-year-old Columbian, who currently plies his trade at Siena in the Italian top flight.

However interest from other clubs - including German outfit Schalke, Roma and River Plate - is said to have driven the player's price higher and possibly out of West Ham's reach.

5'7" Zuniga, who has been compared in the past to Brazilian legends Cafu and Roberto Carlos due to his blistering pace and ability to run with the ball joined Siena last year in a 3million switch from Atletico National, the club with whom he began his professional career in 2005.

He has featured for Columbia on three occasions, and can also fill in at right wing as well as full back.

Meanwhile United have also been linked with Argentinian defender Marcos Angeleri.

25-year-old Angeleri has signalled his intention to leave Estudiantes de la Plata, who play in the Argentinian Primera at the end of the current season.

A right sided defender who can also play in the centre of defence, Angeleri recently received his first call-up to the Argentinian national squad under new national team boss Diego Maradona.

He had also been linked with a move to several Italian clubs.
