Gianfranco Zola's virtual second string go into the break on level terms after a tight opening 45 minutes at White Hart Lane.

With no Parker or Kovac back today Zola was once again forced to reshuffle his depleted squad - but his team have coped ably with a fairly muted Tottenham attack.

Unsurprisingly the home side started the stronger and went on to create a number of chances in the opening half although Rob Green was only really stretched twice; firstly when he was forced to tip a Huddlestone drive wide of his post and then to deny Robbie Keane from the edge of the box, all within the space of 60 seconds.

At the other end David Di Michele looked the most likely to break the deadlock for all of United's three main first half efforts fell to the Italian; his best effort coming in on 35 minutes when a fierce volley from a tight angle was well saved by Gomes.

Spurs also saw three penalty appeals rejected by referee Martin Atkinson in the opening period - none of which were valid, but joyfully mocked nonetheless by the travelling Hammers contingent who spent the next five minutes chanting 'hand ball' every time a Spurs players took a touch.

We'll have more for you at the final whistle.
