West Ham Utd v Tottenham: half time report

Filed: Wednesday, 29th July 2009

The Hammers have been distinctly second best in a disappointing opening 45 minutes in this morning's Asia Cup semi-final.

Despite featuring what is vitually his strongest available team Gianfranco Zola saw his side outclassed in the first half here in Beijing.

Tottenham - themselves featuring a strong side - racked up chance after chance but failed to beat Rob Green who despite being busy, has barely had a save to make.

Spurs went closest to opening the scoring just 16 minutes into the game when Roman Pavlyuchenko rattled the post with a curling effort from the edge of the box.

West Ham, who are yet to register a worthy effort on target saw the pre-season injury jinx strike again as Luis Boa Morte sustained suspected ligament damage following an innocuous challenge early on. He was immediately replaced by Mark Noble.

Hopefully we'll have something slightly more positive to report on at the full time whistle.

West Ham United: Green, Faubert, Upson, Collins, Ilunga, Boa Morte (Noble 12), Dyer, Collison, Jimenez, Stanislas, Cole.

Subs: Stech, Kurucz, Spence, Spector, N'Gala, Tomkins, Gabbidon, Noble, Parker, Payne, Savio, Hines.

Tottenham Hotspur: Cudicini, Hutton, Huddlestone, Corluka, Assou-Ekotto, Naughton, Palacios, Modric, O'Hara, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe.

Subs: Gomes, Alnwick, Chimbonda, Dervite, Bale, Bostock, Bentley, Lennon, Keane, Rose
