Tonight's Carling Cup tie has gone into extra time after Bolton snatched a dramatic late equaliser.

Having gone behind to Herita Ilunga's striker on the hour mark the home side were just four minutes away from defeat when Kevin Davies stepped up to nod home a corner.

Despite being second best for much of the game United took the lead on 59 minutes when Ilunga took advantage of some horrendous defending to stab home a low Alessandro Diamanti corner.

However Bolton sent the game into extra time when the busy Davies converted a Matt Taylor corner to the dismay of Zola's men and the vocal travelling support.

Thirty minutes of extra time now ensue; should the score remain level after that the tie will be decided by penalties.

''The usual annual poor performance in the cup, it's getting so predictable - why don't we save everybody's time and money and next year just concede the game to the usual sh*te that we lose to every year?''
