West Ham are thought to be close to tying up a deal for former Tottenham and Wigan defender Pascal Chimbonda.

The 31-year-old right back - currently employed by Blackburn - moved to Ewood Park a year ago but could be on his way to the Boleyn Ground, possibly on loan.

West Ham have been without a recognised right back since former club captain Lucas Neill departed. Meanwhile moves to bring 29-year-old Guy Demel in from Hamburg are thought to have hit a snag.
