Henri on glorious gaffe

A red-faced Henri Lansbury has been explaining how he managed to miss an open goal during England's 2-1 win in Norway last night.

The on-loan midfielder found himself with the simplest of chances in front of goal after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross found him unmarked at the far post with just three minutes of the game remaining.

However the 20-year-old somehow managed to miss the goal entirely and was forced to watch his effort rebound off the crossbar to safety.

"I think it was the only bobble out on the pitch!" an embarrased Lansbury explained to Sky Sports. "Obviously it was a bad miss but you've just got to look to the next game and try and score then.

"That's what happens. It'll be on one of those duff videos now and people will be laughing at it!"

England won the game - which maintains their 100 per cent record in qualifying - courtesy of goals from Craig Dawson and captain Jordan Henderson, both of which arrived in the opening ten minutes.

Valon Berisha notched Norway's consolation goal after 23 minutes.

England under 21s: Jack Butland, Adam Smith, Jason Lowe, Ryan Bennett, Craig Dawson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson (c), Marvin Sordell (Jonjo Shelvey 81), Henri Lansbury, Ross Barkley (Gary Gardner 55), Nathan Baker (Jon Flanagan 71).
