West Ham were denied a morale-boosting win against the champions elect by a late Robin Van Persie strike - which TV replays proved to be clearly offside.

United were leading 2-1 when Van Persie, who had strayed a yard offside in a Reds attack pounced on a rebound to find the back of the net. However the 'goal' was allowed to stand, denying the Hammers a win against the Premier League's runaway leaders.

West Ham had taken the lead in tonight's 'game in hand' on the quarter-hour mark via a Ricardo Vaz Te header, following some great work on the left by Matt Jarvis. The winger's centre was nodded back across goal by Andy Carroll leaving the Portuguese forward the simplest of chances.

However the visitors equalised soon after when Antonio Valencia scored from close range in the 31st minute, with West Ham's defence completely pulled part.

Mo Diame's wonder goal ten minutes into the second period - a fizzing, curling shot that bent around three players before finding the bottom corner - looked as if it may earn West Ham all three points.

That was until Van Persie's 77th-minute offside effort, which resulted from Kagawa's deflected shot that had cannoned off both posts, was allowed to stand.

We'll have a full match report for you soon...
