Sam Allardyce has finally put and end to speculation over his future by signing a new contract.
The 58-year-old, who succeeded Avram Grant in 2011 was out of contract this summer having seen out his initial two-year deal, signed when the club had just been relegated from the Premier League.Since then Allardyce has taken United back to the Premier League and secured a second successive season of top flight football, with West Ham in tenth place in the table at time of writing (and only today's game at Everton and next week's season finale against Reading at the Boleyn Ground to play).
It has now been confirmed that the former Bolton and Blackburn manager, who has taken to life in the capital since moving south with wife Lynn has agreed a two-year extension to his current deal.
Co-chairman David Gold told whufc.com: "This is fantastic news for West Ham United. Sam has made a hugely positive impact since joining the club nearly two years ago.
"We chose to recruit Sam as we knew he would bring discipline, determination, passion and respect to Chadwell Heath - and he has delivered on all fronts.
"The relationships that exist throughout the club are some of the best I've seen during my 20 years in football. When I visit the training ground, it is obvious to see Sam is respected by the players and David Sullivan, Karren Brady and I all enjoy working with him.
"We can now all look forward to the next few years with optimism and I am already excited about our plans for the 2013/14 season."
