West Ham's new signings Marco Borriello and Antonio Nocerino have been assigned their new squad numbers.

For the reminder of the current season, striker Boriello will wear the number 46 shirt and midfielder Nocerino the number 47, it was confirmed today. According to whufc.com, the two players were allowed to select their shirt numbers personally.

The highest squad number previously handed to a West Ham United player is 48, which was allocated to Academy players Ashley Miller (now with Bishop's Stortford FC) in 2008/09 and Danny Potts in 2011/12.

However whereas Miller failed to make a single first team appearance, Potts made four during 2011/12 meaning that he holds the record for the highest number to be featured by a Hammer on the field of play.
