Deadline day lunchtime update

West Ham are being linked by several (reputable) sources with a move for Greek striker Konstantinos Mitroglou as we reach the halfway point of deadline day.

The 25-year-old Olympiakos forward looked set to join Fulham but within the past 24 hours both Cardiff and West Ham have expressed an interest in also signing the £12m-rated international. Mitroglou has already scored 17 times this season for his club, following on from the 20 he scored last season.

That particular deal is key to several other transfers happening, with Fulham unwilling to part company with Dimitar Berbatov (set for a loan return to Spurs) until a replacement has been sourced. Fulham, who have also sign Lewis Holtby from the North London club are also poised to sign Johnny Heitinga, who rejected a move to West Ham earlier in the month.

The Hammers are still hoping for some outward movement today with Mo Diame, Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga all considered potential departures. Maiga remains strongly linked with a move to Championship club Queens Park Rangers, with one rumour this morning hinting at a swap deal plus cash for 32-year-old Sean Wright-Phillips.

Meanwhile Diame continues to interest Fulham, who saw a double-bid for the Senegalese international and Ravel Morrison rejected three weeks ago - whilst Diarra has now been linked with a swap move for Max Gradel, who as we reported last night is in England for talks but not yet a West Ham player after negotiations reached an impasse.

Morrison, on whom transfer news has gone strangely quiet in recent days is being linked with a swap deal for Joleon Lescott by one source - although there is little evidence to suggest Manchester City would to be willing to take the troubled youngster to the Etihad.

Finally, the move to bring Pablo Armero in from Napoli is closest to happening, with the player having undergone a medical in Italy as the two clubs continue to discuss terms. The 27-year-old wing back is set to move to West Ham on loan for the remainder of the season.

We'll continue to bring you updates throughout the day.
