Matthias Fanimo has thanked West Ham for his time at the Boleyn, on the day he ended a 15-year association with the club.

21-year-old Fanimo announced earlier today that he would not be extending his contract at West Ham and leaves with immediate effect. However the Lambeth-born midfielder took the time to thank the club - and its supporters - via his timeline on Twitter.

"I want to thank everyone at West Ham United for everything during my time at the club," he wrote. "I have enjoyed 15 great years at the club, coming through the system and then making my debut.

"Thank you to all the Coaches, Players and Fans! #OnceAHammerAlwaysAHammer"

Fanimo made just three appearances for the first team during his time at West Ham, appearing most recently in the 5-0 FA Cup thrashing at Nottingham Forest a year ago.

His departure was announced on the same day it was confirmed that Blair Turgott - who has now signed for Coventry City - would be leaving the club.
