Rufus joins KUMB Live 2015

Those of you who read our announcement yesterday will already be aware that our second star guest at his year's KUMB Awards is none other than former Hammer Rufus Brevett.

And fans attending this year's event - at the Cow in Stratford Westfield on 28 May - should be in for a real treat according to fellow guest Jimmy Walker, who responded to news of Brevett's appearance alongside him by tweeting: "If this guy is half as funny as when I roomed with him at the Hammers, you are in for a treat!"

Brevett made 497 appearances for seven clubs during a professional career that spanned some 19 years. Having spent his first 15 years at Doncaster (109 appearances), QPR (153) and Fulham (175), the left back joined West Ham at the age of 33 on transfer deadline day in January 2003.

Although his introduction helped solidify a previously leaky Hammers defence, Glenn Roeder's squad were nevertheless relegated at the end of the 2002/03 season.

And although he began the following 2003/04 Championship season as first choice left back, Brevett made just three starts before breaking an ankle against Sheffield United - an injury that was to prevent him from having any further involvement that season.

Having recovered from the ankle injury, Brevett again started the 2004/05 season as first choice but made just 13 more appearances for West Ham before joining Plymouth on a free transfer, having being released by the Irons.

Brief spells at Leicester (on loan) and Oxford United followed before Brevett decided to hang up his boots at the age of 38. A move into management followed - he was assistant manager at Combined Counties League Premier Division Bedfont FC and manager at Arlesey Town before joining Banbury United in February, where he is coach and assistant to manager Paul Davis.

This year's KUMB.com Awards Live show will be taking place just a stone's throw from the club's new home at the Olympic Stadium on Thursday, 28 May 2015 (from 7pm). The venue for this year's event is The Cow in Chestnut Plaza, Stratford Westfield, which overlooks the Queen Elizabeth Park.

During the evening, your hosts Chris Scull and James Longman will be revealing the winners of all 12 categories in this year's KUMB Awards, which range from Hackett of the Year right through to the big one - the KUMB.com readers' Player of the Year.

Tickets for the show are available now, priced 16.50 each. Please note that numbers are extremely limited this year so you are advised to book early in order to avoid disappointment.
