Tombides confirms West Ham departure

The Tombides family will no longer be represented at West Ham after Taylor Tombides declared he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old winger revealed this morning that he will be looking for a new club come next month after he was released by the Hammers.

And in an emotional statement, he thanked the club for the support it had given his family during the period in which his elder brother Dylan, a fellow Academy member, passed away.

"I'm sad to say I will be leaving West Ham United at the end of the season," he wrote. "It's been a pleasure to play for the Hammers.

"I can't thank everyone at the club enough for giving me the chance to play at such a great club and can't thank the staff and the fans enough for the support you have given me and my family while going through the loss of my brother.

"It's been a great pleasure to play for the claret and blues. #whufc #hammers #dt38"

Earlier this year Tombides - who has been representing Hull City's Academy in recent weeks as he seeks to earn a contract - launched the DT38 Foundation in memory of his brother.

The organisation campaigns to raise awareness and provide support for those suffering from testicular cancer, the disease which cost his brother his life in 2014.
