West Ham United fans travelling to Malta for the Europa League clash with Birkirkara this Thursday are being advised to pack plenty of sun protection cream!

Temperatures in Malta's capital Valletta hit 36° centigrade - that's an overwhelming 97° fahrenheit - this afternoon, just two days before West Ham are due to play in the second leg of their Europa League second qualifying round tie.

And according to local weather reports the temperature will drop slightly over the next 48 hours, but is predicted to remain as high as 33° centigrade (or 91° fahrenheit) on the day of the game - dropping to the high 70s in time for kick off (8.45pm local time).
