Slaven Bilic has admitted that he held talks with Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of the transfer deadline window.
Bilic, who celebrates his 47th birthday today revealed that he had spoken with the 31-year-old out-of-favour striker - but confirmed that the move collapsed after the two clubs failed to agree terms."It was just talk, it wasn't like we held negotiations," Bilic told the media this morning. "Because of his situation and our situation I wanted to talk to him and have a chat.
"He wanted a chat too, so we spoke for an hour about football and the possibility [of him coming to West Ham]. In the end it didn't happen because of his contractual situation with Spurs. That's it, basically."
And when asked how he would be celebrating his birthday, Bilic replied: "The older you get the less you celebrate! Apart from the big ones, like a 50th, 60th or whatever.
"It's just a normal day. It's my birthday of course so my friends and family are calling, but basically it's just an ordinary day."
