Henry goes a-roving

Reserve defender Doneil Henry has rejoined Blackburn Rovers on a month-long loan.

The 22-year-old moved to West Ham from Toronto in January of this year after being recommended to former manager Sam Allardyce by Reds manager Ryan Nelson.

Sent on loan to Ewood Park a few weeks later, Henry made just three appearances for Blackburn before being sent back to West Ham having sustained a serious hamstring injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

However new Rovers Paul Lambert, who was appointed on a two-and-a-half year contract last week, has moved swiftly to bring the strong centre half back to the club.

"I'm delighted to be able to bring Doneil back," Lambert told Blackburn's website. "I know that he did very well last time he was here, prior to his injury. We felt that it was important to add an extra body to the defensive department and Doneil was the obvious choice."

Henry - whose sole appearance for West Ham's first team came in the 2-1 Europa League defeat at Astra Guirgui at the beginning of August - admitted that he was delighted at being offered the opportunity to play first team football once again.

"It is great to be back here again, it is a great club," he said. "The last time I was here I felt really welcomed, I got tossed in right away and felt it was made really easy because of how great the guys were here. So I'm just looking to train hard and play my part and give all I have for the team."

Henry is set to make his second Rovers debut this weekend when Blackburn host Sheffield Wednesday.
