Premier League clubs have agreed to limit the price of away tickets to a maximum of £30 from next season, it has been revealed.

Following a series of sustained campaigns by supporters' groups, including the much-publicised walk-out by Liverpool fans last month, the Premier League have confirmed that all 20 member clubs have agreed to limit the price of tickets for travelling fans from the beginning of next season (2016/17).

"Clubs know that away fans have a unique status," read a statement on the Premier League's website. "They are essential for match atmosphere and stimulate the response from home fans that distinguishes Premier League matches from those of other leagues.

"This unique status has long been understood by clubs. Away fans have additional travel costs and pay individual match prices, as season ticket and other discounts are not available to them. The responsibility for them is shared between clubs and therefore it is right that there is a collective initiative to help them."

West Ham United - who have previously voted against price reductions - responded to the news by suggesting the new deal would cost them up to £2million per annum.

"West Ham United are delighted to endorse this afternoon’s Premier League announcement of a league-wide £30 cap on all away tickets for the next three seasons," read a statement on the club's website.

"While the decision to cap tickets at £30 each will cost the Club over £2,000,000 in lost revenue over the next three years the club supported the move to ensure its own supporters benefited from the price cap when they travel to watch the Hammers play away from home."

Meanwhile Arsenal have gone one further and confirmed that they would be subsiding the new deal even further.

"The club has announced that it is freezing all general admission season ticket and match ticket prices for the next two seasons, meaning that general admission prices will be flat for all games at Emirates Stadium until at least 2018/2019," they said.

"The club is also providing a further £4 discount for its away supporters attending Premier League matches, in addition to the £30 cap on away tickets announced by the Premier League."

KUMB.com has consistently campaigned against the excessive cost of attending Premier League matches. This season, supporters have been charged up to £95 to watch Category A matches at the Boleyn Ground - the second-highest figure in England.

Meanwhile Leicester - currently top of the Premier League - have been selling match day tickets this season from as little as £22.
