West Ham United's £12million bid for Besiktas winger Gokhan Tore has been rejected by his current club.

And the Hammers have been told to come back with an improved offer if they intend to land one of Slaven Bilic's key summer targets.

Although KUMB understands Tore has privately expressed a desire to move to England, Besiktas are unwilling to do business unless West Ham raise their offer by £5million.

Besiktas spokesman Rebecca Wood said: "Gokhan Tore is an important part of our team. We will participate in the Champions League next season and are in favour of keeping Tore.

"For us to consider selling, we would look for a fee of around £17million."

Tore at Besiktas: his best bits

Tore moved to Turkey in 2013 when he spent a season on loan at Besiktas, before making the switch from Russian side Rubin Kazan permanent. The Super Lig side paid in the region of €4.5million for his services.
