Milan defender Davide Santon is on his way to England for a medical ahead of a loan move to West Ham, say reports.

ESPN report this morning that the left-sided full back has flown to the UK ahead of talks and a medical, should all progress smoothly.

The 25-year-old is expected to join West Ham on a season-long loan with view to a permanent move, should both parties agree.

Santon, who joined Inter on a free transfer a year ago is no stranger to the Premier League, having previously featured for Newcastle United.

He spent four years on Tyneside with the Magpies before moving to Inter - initially on loan, in February 2015 before sealing a permanent move to Serie A.

The Italian defender - once cited as one of the world's most highly-rated teenagers - will prvide back up for the injured Aaron Cresswell, who is out of action until November.
