Ayew returns to Marseille, temporarily

Andre Ayew has returned to France in order to continue his rehabilitation - at his former club Marseille.

The 20.5million summer signing was injured during his Premier League debut for the Hammers against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month and subsequently ruled out until December with a serious thigh injury.

West Ham agreed to allow Ayew to return to France temporarily for further treatment, following his earlier diagnosis and a request to be treated in familar surroundings.

And the 26-year-old forward is said to have drawn a large crowd this afternoon when attending Marseille's training centre.

According to L'Equipe, Ayew took "light exercises alongside a physiotherapist" whilst suggesting that "the process recovery seemed well underway".

And the French outlet also suggested that, given their current poor form which has left them 15th in Ligue 1 after five matches, "the Marseille fans would do well to kidnap him."
