Brady 'saddened' by Big Sam accusations

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has expressed sympathy for former Irons boss Sam Allardyce after he was accused of impropriety by a newspaper.

Brady, speaking in the wake of today's bombshell - in which Allardyce was accused by the Daily Telegraph of offering to assist with circumnavigating FA rules pertaining to third party ownership - told the BBC that she was saddened by the allegations.

"I was both saddened and disappointed," she told the BBC's Newsbeat programme. "What a great shame if he loses that job through non-footballing reasons. I think he'll be disappointed in himself."

During the covertly-filmed video, in which the newspaper used actors to lure the current England manager into breaching FA rules and regulations, Allardyce is said to have attempted to negotiate a 400,000 consultancy fee for his services.

He also made fun of predecessor Roy Hodgson's speech impediment whilst making scathing remarks regarding Hodgson's assistant Gary Neville.
