Co-chairman David Sullivan has praised reserve goalkeeper Darren Randolph for his performance in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

The Irish international made a string of fine saves to ensure West Ham gained a point from their latest trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

And Sullivan praised the former Birmingham man's "fighting spirit", which saw him deny the hosts on several occasions during the second half.

"I was unfortunate that we could not hold onto the lead," he told whufc.com. "But I thought the players showed great determination and a fighting spirit to help us come away with a point.

"It was a real team effort and Darren Randolph once again showed his quality and produced an outstanding display. Darren has had to be patient, but he has never moaned about the situation.

"I was impressed by the effort from the whole team on Sunday but I thought Darren was the star performer."

Sullivan also reserved a word of praise for the returning (and injured) Diafra Sakho, who scored West Ham's second-minute opener and who he hopes to see back in action soon.

"It was very pleasing to see Diafra Sakho back in action," he added. "He showed his quality when he opened the scoring after just two minutes and it was really unfortunate that he picked up a hamstring injury during the second half.

"Diafra will now undergo a scan and although the early signs suggest it will not be a lengthy injury, we will know a lot more when we see the results in the next few days."
