Marseille veteran Rod Fanni says it would be a sign of the club's ambitions were they to re-sign West Ham United's Dimitri Payet.
The 35-year-old defender, who has himself been linked with a move to West Ham in recent years revealed that he was a big fan fo the 29-year-old Euro 16 star, who is being linked with a return to the South of France."We talked about it in the changing room, the situation looks pretty delicate," Fanni told L'Equipe. "I'm not going to say too much one way or the other as I don't have enough information.
"I don't know if he feels respected or not as a man but I hope it will end well for him, more than it will for his club! It would be great if he were to join OM. I am a big fan. But this is a rather complicated subject.
"If he came back, it would be a strong sign of the club's ambitions. It is no small task to obtain his services as he has many clubs interested in signing him. It would be a big investment."
