Slav on the mend

Filed: Thursday, 26th January 2017
By: Staff Writer

Slaven Bilic has spent the last few days in hospital having been taken ill following last weekend's 3-1 win at Middlesbrough.

The Hammers boss was admitted to hospital with a case of "bad flu" (according to the PA) uponi returning to London but was released on Tuesday and allowed to return home, from where he will continue his recovery.

Bilib will be afforded several extra days to recuperate prior to West Ham's next match, as the third round Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City means United are without a game this weekend.

Influenza - unlike the common cold with which it is often confused - can cause extreme temperatures (in excess of 38C/100F) within sufferers. The NHS advises that it is unusual for fit and healthy people to require medical treatment.
