Harry tells Lomas: Talk to City

Poor Steve Lomas. Only yesterday his own team mate Igor Stimac was telling him that his future lay elsewhere.

Now his manager, Harry Redknapp, who told him last week unequivocally that he wanted him to stay at Upton Park has also advised him to 'have a chat' with the interested parties.

Despite the club accepting two offers of £3.7m from Manchester City and Everton last week, Harry Redknapp said that he wanted to keep the tenacious Irishman. But in what can only be seen as an about turn he has now advised the 26-year-old midfielder to consider a move.

Speaking earlier, Redknapp said: "We had a chat and we'll see what happens. If I was Steve I'd have a chat with the clubs.

"I like him; people talk about the time we bought Paul Kitson and John Hartson to stay up but Stevie was every bit as important," the Hammers boss added.

"He's a good player, a good professional, but we've had good offers for him.

"It's up to him; I think if I was him I'd probably have a chat with the interested people and see what they have to say."

Redknapp's comments came in the wake of a meeting between the two in which Lomas' future was on the agenda.

Lomas was looking for assurances about his future (which one can only assume were not given), and was also believed to be holding out for a pay rise, which may have triggered Redknapp's comments.
