Respect the point, says Collins

James Collins believes that West Ham could have nicked all three points at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

However the veteran central defender was happy enough with the point - and a second successive clean sheet following last weekend's stalemate against Everton at the Olympic Stadium.

"I think if someone had offered us that before the game we would've taken it as they've been playing really well at home and scoring lots of goals," he said. "So to come and get another clean sheet is good.

"It's taken time to get there - we played this formation earlier on in the season and probably didn't play it so well. The last few games we've defended well in a period where we needed to. We needed to pick up points, coming away.

"We got told a long time ago that a point away in the Premier League is always good, so we're happy. You can't lose a game if you don't concede so it's a case of getting back to basics, really."

And Collins - who played yet another full 90 minutes as one of a three-man rearguard - felt that Andre Ayew may have won the game for the Hammers but for a tremendous save from sponsor's Man of the Match Jack Butland.

"If you look at the game we've probably had the majority of chances," he surmised. "Certainly Andre had a great overhead kick which forced a great save - and a few other ones."

"But coming away and getting a point at this stage of the season is good."
