Randy bid rejected

West Ham have rejected an approach for reserve goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

Recently-relegated Middlesbrough are understood to have made an offer for the West Ham back-up 'keeper, having lost Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan earlier this month.

However an initial offer from the Championship side was instantly rejected by the Hammers, according to a report in one of today's tabloids.

Randolph joined the Hammers on a free transfer via Birmingham City two years ago, since when he had gone on to make 42 first team appearances for the club.

* Staying with goalkeepers and West Ham's pursuit of Joe Hart is said to have received a blow, with at least one club said to have offered to take the former England number one on a permanent basis.

The Hammers are understood to be keen to sign the Manchester City stopper on a season-long loan, although Championship club Aston Villa are reported to have made an attempt to sign him on a permanent basis.
