No Wilshere deal imminent

Championship club Birmingham are trying to secure Hammers target Jack Wilshere on loan for the rest of the season.

The West Ham-supporting Arsenal midfielder has been linked with a move to the Olympic Stadium for some time, although West Ham are still to make an official approach for the 25-year-old Arsenal player.

And that has allowed former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp, currently in charge at St Andrew's to step in and attempt to stage something of a coup by persuading Wilshere to drop a division.

Meanwhile Redknapp is trying to secure a deal for another former Hammer, with Alex Song currently locked in talks with Birmingham regarding a potential loan move.

The former Cameroon international has spent the last two season playing his football for Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League.
