Javier Hernandez has had his say in the ongoing row regarding his playing position.

The Mexican international has been shunted out to the left side of a front three in West Ham's most recent outings as Slaven Bilic seeks to accomodate Andy Carroll into his team.

And despite having appeared frustrated in his new role at times, Hernandez told the club's website that he would be happy to play anywhere.

I don't live to score goals, I just like playing football and being on the pitch," he said. "Whether I play left wing, left midfield, left back, centre forward... wherever.

"I like to grow, I like to challenge myself; I like to push myself to keep on growing. To adapt to any situation. I just love playing football.

"This is a team sport and you have to give 100 per cent. To be at your best and in the best condition to help and support your team mates."

The 29-year-old also revealed that he was looking forward to playing in his first London derby - which, incidentally is the 129th competitive meeting between the two clubs.

"Derbies are big for everyone and obviously they have a different flavour, especially for the fans," he added.

"I've played in Chivas v America, Barca v Madrid, Mexico v USA and Leverkusen v Cologne. Derbies have a different feeling - but personally, I play every match as if it was my last, like a Derby!"
