Former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has ruled himself out of the running to replace Slaven Bilic as West Ham boss, according to reports.

Although there are no direct quotes, the Mirror claimed today that the 44-year-old German has confirmed that is not interested in succeeding the Croat, who is out of contract at the end of the season, as Hammers boss.

Tuchel, a lower league footballer during his playing career shot to international fame as manager of Borussia Dortmund, when he replaced current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in 2015.

However he was to win just one trophy during his two years with Die Schwarzgelben - the 2017 DFB-Pokal Final against Eintracht Frankfurt - a success he marked by handing in his resignation 72 hours later.

Of course, West Ham's current Board are no strangers to sounding out potential managerial candidates despite there being no vacancy.

In January 2011 Martin O'Neill was lined up to replace the ailing Avram Grant, but pulled out at the last minute in protest at the manner in which the Isareli's (planned) departure was being handled.

And four years later, Rafa Benitez rejected the opportunity to succeed Sam Allardyce prior to the latter leaving West Ham at the end of his contract - as did David Moyes and Unai Emery, as well as others.
