Aaron Cresswell made his first start for England in the Three Lions' 1-0 win in Lithuania on Sunday evening.

The 27-year-old full back received his third cap in the World Cup qualifier, which was also his first start for his country following two substitute appearances.

Fellow England international Joe Hart was an unused substitute for the game, having been rested following the win against Slovenia on Thursday.

There were plenty of other Hammers in international action over the weekend including the on-loan Robert Snodgrass' appearance as a second half substitute for Scotland, who failed to qualify for next year's Finals after being held 2-2 in Slovenia.

Recent arrival Sead Haksabanovic also made a substitute appearance for Montenegro who were well beaten by Poland (4-2) in the National Stadium - a result that sends the Poles through to the Finals.

On Saturday a rejuvenated Diafra Sakho - making his first start in nearly two years - scored the second goal in Senegal's 2-0 win against Cape Verde in Praia. The result takes the Lions of Teranga back to the top of World Cup Qualification Group D .

Sakho was joined by fellow Hammer Cheikhou Kouyate, who also played the full game.

Elsewhere this weekend Jose Fonte was un unused substitute for Portugal on Saturday evening as they narrowly beat minnows Andorra at the Estadio Nacional - whilst Javier Hernandez scored in Mexico's 2-1 win over Trinidad & Tobago 24 hours earlier.

Finally, Marko Arnautovic also found the target as Austria beat Serbia 3-2 at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna. The new Hammer refused to celebrate his goal as his father - who is married Marco's Austrian mother - is Serbian.
