Jose Fonte and Manuel Lanzini are celebrating this morning after their respective nations qualified for next year's World Cup Finals.

Swiss defender Johan Djourou gave Fonte's side the perfect start with an own goal just four minutes into the game, before Andre Silva added the all-important second goal in the game's closing stages.

Meanwhile attacking midfielder Lanzini, who wasn't involved in the squad due to recent injury watched Lionel Messi almost single-handedly send Argentina into the Finals with a virtuoso show in Quito.

Despite falling a goal behind early on, the Argentinians showed their superiority to come through 3-1 against Ecuador thanks to a hat-trick from the Barcelona star. Former Hammer Enner Valencia featured as a second half substitute for the hosts.
